Cemeteries as green space



From a variety of perspectives, cemeteries have always been of interest to architects, whether for philosophical, architectural, sculptural or conservation reasons. The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment have issued an interesting briefing highlighting the potential for rediscovering cemeteries’ role as public open spaces. The downloadable document considers their legal status, heritage value and contemporary benefits, and includes a useful bibliography and contact list.
