'Green' bricks?



Steve Van Dulken, patent specialist at the British Library, has highlighted an intriguing invention by Missouri-based former civil engineer Henry Liu (pictured here). Liu's technique uses fly ash, a prolific waste by-product of coal burning at power stations, which is mixed with water and pressurised to create bricks which can be used for building.
