Sir Christopher Frayling on design education

GSA staff recently enjoyed a talk by Sir Christopher Frayling, former Rector of the Royal College of Art, in which he gave us an overview of the current economic, social and educational context of design education in the UK. Interestingly, Sir Christopher also spoke briefly on yesterday's Radio 4 Sunday morning magazine programme 'Broadcasting House'. In a review of the week's papers, he highlighted the irony of positive coverage of British art, design and architecture successes such as the London 2012 Velodrome at a time when the Russell Group of universities are claiming that art and design GSEs are unacceptable for gilt-edged universities. You can hear Sir Christopher about 54 minutes into the programme, which is available on BBC iPlayer.
